The Community Policing Unit is assigned to various locations in the City in an effort to build a strong police/community relationship that will strengthen the neighborhood and help prevent crime from occurring.
The Community Policing Unit consists of:
Sergeant Kevin Medas who serves as the Community Police Supervisor and department grants writer and administrator.
Elder Out Reach: Patrolman Steven Crowninshield works with elder members of the community to address some of their unique crime prevention and assistance needs. Patrolman Crowninshield can be reached at 508-822-0209
Downtown: Patrolman Steven Wasylow works in the heart of the City to address the needs of residents, businesses and community organizations. Patrolman Wasylow is now operating out of the Taunton Public Library substation and can be reached at 508-821-1272.
Weir Village: Patrolman Steven Turner works out the Weir Community Policing Station located at the Weir Fire Station. Patrolman Turner can be reached at 508-821-1076.
Highland Hills: Patrolman David Jardim works at the Highland Hills family housing development located at 30 Highland Street. Patrolman Jardim can be reached at 508-824-6400.
Riverside Apartments: Patrolman William Rutherford serves both the Riverside Apartments located at Paul Bunker Drive and the Pine Grove Apartments located at 240 High Street. Patrolman Rutherford can be reached at 508-828-1893.
Fairfax Gardens: Patrolman Shawn Mulhern and Patrolman John Munise are assigned to the Fairfax Gardens Family Housing Complex located at DeWert Avenue. They can be reached at 508-828-1873.
